Shetland Marine News is owned and run by the Shetland News Agency, Shetland’s only freelance news service. Since its inception, in April 1990, the agency has provided a comprehensive daily news service to the local, national and international media from the UK’s most northerly community.
Shetland News Agency is run jointly by Hans J. Marter, and Pete Bevington.
Hans is from Germany, and moved to Shetland in 1992. He has been reporting from Shetland to the German media market ever since, and is the UK correspondent for the German renewable energy magazine ‘Neue Energie’.
He has been the Press & Journal’s as well as Grampian TV’s (ITV) news reporter since 1996 and took over the daily running of Shetland News Agency from Dr. Jonathan Wills, in November 1998.
Hans was editor of the fisheries paper Shetland Seafood News between early 2000 and December 2002.
