SHETLAND’S largest salmon farming and processing company Grieg Seafood Hjaltland
has bought Collafirth Salmon Limited.
The deal for three sea sites on the east of the isles’ was completed through
Grieg’s subsidiary company Hjaltland Seafarms.
This acquisition is expected to increase the company’s harvesting production to
about 21,000 tonnes by 2011, but this year it will remain at 16,000 tonnes.
Managing director of Grieg Seafood Hjaltland Michael Stark said: “The additional
farm sites will strengthen Hjaltland’s market position as the leading producer
of high quality sustainable salmon from Shetland.
“The latest acquisition will improve our bio security further as we have become
the only salmon farming operator within this area.”
